The federal Attorney-General Daryl Williams spoke at the Australian Legal Convention in October. In this speech Mr Williams strongly advocated the need for a national profession, including national regulation, rules of conduct and common principles as to entry into the profession and education. Recently the Western Australian government has given an assurance that it will introduce legislation for the national legal services market. Queensland is the only state yet to become involved..
