November 2010) A law firm is entitled to request any type of identification it wishes (within reason) to ensure that the client authority to release documents is genuine. However, it is not necessary to view 100 points of identification where the request comes from another legal practitioner -- Legal practice management - Liens, transfer of practitioner?s practice (R4679 ? November 2010) Practitioners have clear duties under the Professional Conduct & Practice Rules 2005 to notify clients of any intention to transfer part or all of their practice and to give the client a reasonable time to provide instructions to the contrary.
