Family law - Conflict of interest (R4765 ? July 2012) A practitioner should cease to act for a client against a former client about whom the practitioner has confidential information. A practitioner may continue to act for the father of the client in objecting to a subpoena if there is no issue of confidential information being used against the client -- Legal practice management - Information barriers (R4766 ? June 2012) There is a perceived conflict of interest in a firm employing a lawyer when the firm is acting against a recent former client of the lawyer. An information barrier may rebut the doctrine of implied knowledge. A compliance officer appointed from outside the relevant practice area assists in creating an effective information barrier.
